About You Wei.

Tan You Wei is a pianist who delivers expressive and honest performances that resonate deeply with audiences. Known for presenting the truthful musical intent of composers, his interpretations resonate with audiences and leave a lasting impression. Currently a third-year student at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Tan is set to graduate in 2025 and continues to build his artistic identity as a performer. 

As a classically trained musician, Tan has performed extensively in concerts, competitions, and accompaniment for examinations. He views the piano as a medium of artistic expression, using it to convey both the complexity and simplicity of human emotions. While his repertoire primarily focuses on classical works, he is highly versatile, adapting to various musical demands with a keen sensitivity to the composer’s intentions. His performances are characterized by their emotional depth, technical precision, and an unwavering commitment to authenticity. 

In 2024, Tan achieved significant recognition, winning the Gold Prize at the AIPAF Festival and Competition in Korea. He has also earned accolades such as the Dean’s List Award in 2023 and 2025 and the Tan Chay Bing Scholarship in 2023, affirming his academic and artistic dedication. 

Beyond his pianism, Tan is developing as a composer and conductor, with a particular focus on choral conducting. As a conductor, he seeks to bring music to life by shaping the performance and guiding musicians toward a cohesive interpretation. Through his compositions, Tan aims to express his artistic identity while offering both performers and audiences an enriching and memorable experience. 

Currently balancing his studies with his evolving creative pursuits, Tan remains committed to honing his craft and contributing meaningfully to the music community.
